Fashion Week, Day Two: Into the Woods

JEREMY LAING, LOOK 1; RUFFIAN, LOOK 22
JENNI KAYNE, LOOK 3

Jeremy Laing‘s penchant for stringent geometric shapes went the way of the birds for fall, as the Canadian designer embraced the classic ideals of his native country. Wide knits and slouching racoon pelts—both new for the designer—were layered in abundance alongside a neon Native inspired print that looked fluid, not angled, when draped on maxi dresses. They were topped with a nest of hair. The Ruffian designers stayed uptown with several variations on the classic double breasted navy coat, but adding a bit of trippy into the mix with moody constellations that were printed on loose silk bow-collared blouses and pleated office dresses. Jenni Kayne updated her classic look with black leather t-dresses, and amazing pairs of loosely cuffed shorts. Her girl may have been a part time equestrian, but she most certainly a full time urbanite.
