First Dibs: Bottega Veneta Pre-Fall 2014 Look 39

Maybe it’s the lingering memory of scattered holiday wrapping paper strewn across the carpet, but we couldn’t get this shreded-seeming Bottega Veneta Pre-Fall look out of our heads. Sweeping to the floor with slivered ribbons of disintegrating gold leaf, the gown is actually a more abstract rendition of blooming and decaying chrysanthemums—Tomas Maier’s inspiration for the collection. Mixed with panels of solid and netted fabrics, it has a transcendental, post-apocalyptic vibe. A necessary jolt, perhaps, out of the festive season.
