Casting Call: The Story of Sammy Davis, Jr.

In which we suggest who should star in the next big adaptation, remake, or historical film.

With Damien Chazelle‘s La La Land turning public attention back to jazz music, it feels appropriate that a biopic about a jazz performer be announced. Last month, Deadline revealed that a movie based on the illustrious life and career of Rat Pack member Sammy Davis, Jr. has been approved by his estate.

Lionel Richie, Lorenzo di Bonaventura, and Mike Menchel are already set to produce the film, which will be heavily based on the singer’s 1965 autobiography, Yes I Can: The Story of Sammy Davis, Jr. Little else is known about the biopic, besides the fact that Davis’s children are well on board with the project and are excited to see their father’s “incredible American adventure” come to the silver screen.

Casting Call runs on Fridays. For more, click here.
