SHOW: alice + olivia
STYLIST: Thomas Dunkin for Sebastian Professional
INSPIRATION: More posh and polished, Dunkin and team styled romantic side twists. For the free-spirited Palm Beach-esque looks, Dunkin created chic high buns for models.
SHOW: Band of Outsiders
STYLIST: Didier Malige for Aveda
INSPIRATION: "The hair for both looks at Band of Outsiders is textured, matte, and has an easy look, almost undone. It's as if she's done her hair herself, pulling it back into a loose chignon or letting it fall into natural waves."
SHOW: Betsey Johnson
STYLIST: Peter Gray for Cutler Salon
INSPIRATION: "Betsey's theme this year was Tits and Ass, so we thought about looking back and understanding what the true woman is all about and the original supermodel came to mind. Jerry Hall was a perfect example of this, so we modernized this look."
SHOW: Marc by Marc Jacobs
STYLIST: Redken Creative Consultant Guido
INSPIRATION: "When collaborating with Marc on this look, the inspiration that was referenced was actually my own work from the 90's. This look started as a ponytail, and we reinvented it. But we couldn't keep it simple, so created a more complicated clean and spiky version."
HOW: Marchesa
STYLIST: Renato Campora for Frédéric Fekkai
INSPIRATION: He created a sleek, modern look as a contrast to the space and collection itself. Campora's design was fresh and fashion-forward, yet simple enough not to compete with the complexity and intricate detailing of the clothes.
SHOW: Pamela Love
STYLIST: Anthony Cole for Sebastian Professional
INSPIRATION: They styled the models' textured tails with leather ropes, cowboy hats and turbans to complement Pamela's Moroccan vibe in her spring '12 jewelry collection.
SHOW: Derek Lam
STYLIST: Orlando Pita for Phyto
INSPIRATION: Architect Richard Neutra's organic West Coast homes, which the hair reflects with a side parted low ponytail: "clean and simple lines."
SHOW: Preen
STYLIST: Didier Malige for Aveda
INSPIRATION: Apres-swim chignons: "The hair is that of a girl who has just gone swimming, as if she has offhandedly pulled her hair back in a chignon and just left it to dry. It reflects a nonchalant sensuality, her natural and understated sophistication."
