Casting Call: The Nutcracker

Jamie Bell won a BAFTA at age 14 for playing Billy Elliot in the 2000 film of the same name and has since transitioned to Hollywood films, like Fantastic Four. We'd like him to revisit his Elliot training and play the Cavalier, the Sugar Plum Fairy's male counterpart.

Condola Rashad is best known for her role as Juliet in Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, which ran on Broadway in 2013. We think Rashad would be a beautiful Sugar Plum Fairy, one who would take on the role with grace and charm.

Kyle Allen began studying ballet, hip-hop, and breakdancing at age 12. Now 21, he is currently starring in Hulu's new drama The Path alongside Aaron Paul, Michelle Monaghan, Hugh Dancy. As a multitalented actor and dancer, we think Allen would do justice to the role of The Nutcracker.

Clara is a genuine and innocent young girl who happens upon a hidden treasure in the nutcracker doll. We'd like to suggest 15-year-old Mackenzie Foy, who played the doe-eyed Renesmee in The Twilight Saga and a younger version of Jessica Chastain's character in Interstellar.

Lin-Manuel Miranda would be the perfect Mouse King. After his immense success on Broadway, Miranda could bring some of that Hamilton swagger to Disney. As an actor, dancer, and rapper, Miranda could make the role of the Mouse King iconic.

Hugh Jackman, who recently played Blackbeard in Joe Wright's Pan, is an experienced actor, dancer, and singer. With two Tonys, a Grammy, and an Oscar nomination, he's a pretty good contender for an E.G.O.T. We see him co-starring in the live production as Clara's Uncle.
