We'd like to suggest Christoph Waltz as Captain Allan Quartermain, the British explorer (imperialist). More things should star Christoph Waltz.

Mina Murray has been through a lot by the time we meet her in The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen: She's escaped Dracula after being bitten and hypnotized, and she's gotten divorced from the man who got her in the Dracula mess in the first place, Jonathan Harker. We'd like Rosamund Pike to bring some of her Gone Girl calculated toughness to the role of Mina—after all, it takes a resilient spirit to survive such traumatic experiences.

Sam Heughan is more than just Scottish man-candy in a kilt. He's a trained theater actor, and early in his career, he was even nominated for a Laurence Olivier Award (a British Tony, if you will). As Dr. Henry Jekyll and his alter-ego Mr. Hyde, Heughan would have a chance to show his range.

Before he became the Invisible Man, Mr. Griffin was an albino scientist who murdered his father for money. British actor Henry Lloyd-Hughes is pretty pale, and with his shifty-looking mustache, seems like he could have murdered someone.

Irrfan Khan is a little bit young to play the Indian Prince-turned bittered seafarer Captain Nemo, but he has a very intense stare and that, coupled with the sad underrepresentation of Indian actors in Hollywood, is enough for us.

Getting a good director is key for a successful superhero franchise and as the line between film and television blurs, more and more directors are switching mediums (Cary Fukunaga for True Detective is a good example). The obvious choices for the role are Matthew Vaughn and Josh Trank, but they have their hands full at the moment with Kingsman: The Secret Service and Fantastic Four respectively. We'd like to put forward Rian Johnson, who directed Looper, as an alternative.
