Ever since 2012's Pitch Perfect, Anna Kendrick has been belting it out on screen. With her stellar vocals and innocent demeanor, we nominate her to play the young legend-to-be Carole King.

James Marsden is too good to be true, which is why he'd be perfect for the role of Gerry Goffin, the young, handsome, unfaithful lyricist who King meets at Queen's College. Goffin and King were married and collaborated on some of King's most famous songs, but they eventually separated on account of Goffin's infidelity. James Marsden is perfect for the role of this irresistible heartbreaker, and ever since his viral rendition of "Friends in Low Places," which he sang with Lady Antebellum, we're keen to see his vocal chords put to good use. 

Millions were won over by Kristen Bell's voice in the Disney hit Frozen, and we'd love to hear more of it. We nominate her for the role of Cynthia Weil, King's friend and fellow lyricist who occupied the adjacent songwriting office at 1650 Broadway in the early '70s. 

On Mad Men, Jon Hamm plays the dashing Don Draper, a shot caller with battle-weary wit. We'd like to see him take on the role of Lou Adler, who produced King's landmark album Tapestry in L.A. We think he's the perfect man for the job, and when he's grown a full beard, he's quite a convincing doppelganger of the famous American producer. 

Matthew Morrison broke our hearts on Broadway in Hairspray and Footloose, not to mention his performance in Glee. He's the perfect good guy to duet with Cynthia Weil as Barry Mann. 

When King first moved to Manhattan in the early '70s in search of a producer, it was Donnie Kirshner who bought her first song. The young Kirshner would become one of America's most famous music publishers, producers, talent managers, and one of King's dearest friends. We nominate Robert Patrick to play her guardian angle, or rather, "The Man With The Golden Ear."
