Memorial Weekend Beach Bag Must-Haves

Rouge d'Armani Sheer Lipstick in Shade 402, Scarlato

Bright, sunny days call for bright, sunny lips. But don't let this color intimidate you if you just want to go low-key over the weekend. This is not the high-maintenance type of red lipstick. The scarlet shade goes on ultra sheer (you won't even need a mirror to apply, seriously!), and the super-moisturizing formulation makes it feel like lip balm.

Clinique Stay-Matte Oil-Free Makeup

20 shades of gorgeousness that don't streak, fade, run, or melt, even in hot weather and high humidity. I don't believe in not wearing makeup to the beach, and this new formulation still leaves you looking like a natural beauty even with an impossibly matte finish after a day in the sun.

Laid Brand Straight Kinky

This spray is one of my new obsessions.  It's pretty much all-purpose. It protects your hair from stresses such as heat styling and sun exposure, and seals the cuticle, adding shine and preventing frizz. And somehow, it doesn't weigh down my hair.

Maybelline Baby Lips in Quenched

Lips age easily (exhibit A: Lindsay Lohan), and once that starts to happen, it's really difficult to address. Applying and reapplying (and reapplying) copious amounts of sunscreen-infused hydrators will keep a pruney pout at bay for longer. This gem boasts SPF 20, so my lips won't burn, and adds a non-draggy, glossy finish that can be layered over or under your lip color of choice.

Make Up For Ever Aqua Shadow

The new Aqua Shadows are perfect for the summer: a few quick smears on lids, blend it with a finger, and you're ready to go! It sets up within a few minutes, and this stuff is waterproof and will not budge. While the neutral colors are great for everyday, my favorite is 6E, a matte navy perfect for a quick smoky eye.

Neutrogena Clear Face Liquid Lotion Sunblock, SPF 55

Obviously, sunscreen is critical for the beach, but finding the right sunscreen that sinks in quickly, won't leave you greasy, and won't break you out is a bit of a task. I'm currently beyond obsessed with this one. It's all that, plus it wears like a dream under makeup for times when you're not at the beach. And it really, truly will not break you out.

RMS Beauty Living Luminizer

This will become your new favorite product, I guarantee it. Besides being made with organic ingredients (I love a green beauty routine!), it's like glowing skin in a jar and goes perfectly with a tan. Use alone to highlight brow and cheekbones, bridge of nose, cupid's bow, and décolletage, or mix it with a dab of concealer and use it under your eyes for a bright-eyed pop. Add to eyelids for a healthy, summery sheen, as well.

Serge Lutens Blusher

If you're like me and the sun is your complexion's enemy (but you sill want to look just as bronzed as the beach babe next to you), then fake that sun-kissed glow with this perfectly golden-hued bronzer. It's a bit pricey, but not as expensive as the creams and lasers you'll have to use to reverse the negative effects of sun damage. And the bronzer gives off the perfect, matte suntan color. Lucky you, come winter, your skin will still be looking as youthful as last year thanks to the copious amounts of sunscreen you slathered on all summer long.

Smith's Rosebud Salve

I cannot go anywhere without my salve. It's fantastically moisturizing, so it is basically the world's best lip balm, but you can also use it on cuticles, hands, elbow, knees and heels (perfect for when you're about to throw on your sandals and realize that—eek!—your feet could double as sandpaper. No? Just me?) And if you get burned, slather some of this on there, too; it'll help soothe irritation.

Bumble and bumble Surf Spray

I know bringing my own salt-air styler to the beach is like selling land to a gypsy, but I like to gild that lily—and who's to say the real thing will do as great a job defining my beachy waves?

Leonor Greyl Lait Luminescence

My hair color is an investment, and I try to protect it when I can. This leave-in conditioner helps me protect my hair when I'm out in the sun. It's great for spraying on, particularly after going for a swim. Chlorine beware!

YSL Rouge Pur Couture Vernis À Lèvres Glossy Stain in #12 Coril Fauve

These glossy stains have the feel of a gloss combined with the staying power of a stain; they wear very comfortably on the lips. The Coril Fauve shade is just the right combination of coral and pink to help you ease your way into Tangerine Tango lips this season, with just a touch of sparkle.
