Face Value: The Emmys 2011

Va Va Sofia Vergara! We love the exaggerated side part with those come-hither lashes and a salmon-hued lip that matches her dress. The entire look is a contemporary twist on Old Hollywood Glam. Is oozes sex.

Does Kate Winslet ever look bad? She is the quintessential movie star and last night she proved it yet again. Winslet can pull off an up-do like few can. And the strong brows are a huge trend at the moment so she is right on-cue.

Kerry Washington is gorgeous, but she's soskinny that her face is almost unrecognizable. This look is all lips—which wouldn't be a bad thing if Kerry had a bit of plumpness to the rest of her face. Without the weight, it seems a bit like red lip overload.

Red lips, check. Sultry eyes, check. But, alas, we also see a fabulous updo. The side-swept chignon is red carpet magic and Rashida Jones wears it perfectly.

Julia Stiles's hair is perfect! Love a glam, exaggerated side part  with loose curls. Very Old Hollywood. She opted for the makeup trend of the night, dark eyes and light lips. However, with hair as sexy as this, a nice red lip would have been the icing on this beautiful cake.

We're on the fence with this look. While Katie Holmes's makeup is simple and clean, that messy, fly-away up-do can be one of two things: an attempt at a fashion-forward bun or a bad hair day.

Sadly, Zoeey Deschanel takes the cake for worst hairstyle of the night. That bouffant half-up hair makes her look like a contestant in a Texan beauty pageant. The makeup is solid but unfortunately, the hair overshadows.

Claire Danes stuck to the staples: dark eyes, light lips and a great blow out. While it's nothing out of the ordinary, she definitely rocks the look well. Side Note: this is an incredible blonde color—bright, shiny and not over-processed.

Lea Michele can sing and dance and she does justice to a red carpet. Loving this youthful, clean look. The hair is simple—down, blown and natural—and the makeup is flawless: just lashes, rosy cheeks and a nice mauve lip. Red carpet perfection

We love Minka Kelly's makeup, which is very clean with a bathroom pink pout (not neon, but not pale—somewhere in between). But the dark locks, a chestnut hue with highlights, seems to drown out her skin tone. We would have preferred the hair down and flowing.
