Fashion Week Beauty Recap: The Hair

Rodarte

Odile Gilbert for Aveda created this romantic, asymmetrical look. According to Rodarte's Kate and Laura Mulleavy, "We wanted the hair to look naturally windswept for this season. Odile brought that to life beautifully."

Carolina Herrera

"I wanted the hair to look special and different from what we've seen before, especially since it's all about what happens at the back of the head," explains Orlando Pita of Moroccanoil. "For this season, I'm feeling a strong move away from tousled, messy hair. Fashion is definitely more dressed and polished, and it's dictating where hair is going. The looks are more controlled, healthy-looking, and shiny."

Jason Wu

Aveda's Odile Gilbert says, "The Jason Wu hair for this season is elegantly chicâ??like a piece of art. The ends of the hair are coated in 24-karat gold leaf and shaped like a feather, echoing the gold accents and feathers from the collection."

Thakoon

Thakoon's inspiration this season drew from the bold primary colors and tribal prints worn by the African Masai tribe. The hairstyle, by Odile Gilbert in partnership with Kérastase, was an elegant, yet spontaneous chignon intertwined with bold-colored, deconstructed woolen beanies.

Marchesa

Renato Campora of Frédéric Fekkai was inspired by the volume, textures, and silhouettes of the Marchesa collection. Drawing from the style of a flamenco dancer's chignon, the look was a modern take on a classic style: controlled and sleek in the front, and wildly voluminous in back. The result was a beautiful and artistically modern hairstyle that appeared windblown.

DKNY

â??I wanted to create a look that started off with the perfect blow dry but then evolved to a more thoughtful, contemporary finish. I was inspired by the classic â??Rock Starâ??s Girlfriendâ?? look of the late '60s, a look that is still much coveted today, as it is the perfect combination of sexiness and class. For me, itâ??s all about creating the perfect look and then bringing in imperfection. In this look weâ??ve done that by adding texture for a raw, sexy, â??lived-inâ?? lookâ? says Eugene Souleiman, Global Creative Director for Wella Professionals, Care & Styling.
