The heritage houses are once again haute. A new generation is boldly embracing the vintage values and atelier traditions of hallowed couture houses such as Chanel, Chloé, Dior, Givenchy, and Valentino. Here, we present three young actresses with old souls and serious talent in the season’s finest.

Kiernan Shipka, 10 Years Old
Breakout role: On AMC’s Mad Men, Shipka plays the precocious Sally Draper, the wizened and weary daughter of Don and Betty Draper, who, coming of age in the turbulent ’60s, has already discovered the therapeutic qualities of Scotch and cigarettes. This summer she’ll also appear in the partially animated Warner Bros. film Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore. Fashion sense: “Well, I love Chanel—I think they have some amazing pieces. I love Burberry. But my favorite is probably Papo d’Anjo. They have amazing dresses for kids my age.” Favorite subject in school: “I actually like math a lot. We’re learning lots of division, which I think is really cool. And French. I love French. I just started learning it about a week ago. I don’t know how to say much yet. Just a little bit—I can order food and stuff.” Lifelong passion: “I’ve always loved performing. I’ve always been drawn to the arts—ever since I was little.”—LM

Chloë Grace Moretz, 13 Years Old
Breakout role: Last summer Moretz won over audiences as Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s sensible little sister in (500) Days of Summer and recently starred as a foulmouthed preteen superhero in Matthew Vaughn’s kiddie action flick, Kick-Ass. favorite movies: “My favorite movie from the last year is Avatar, but my favorite movies of all time are Breakfast at Tiffany’s and Gone With the Wind . I haven’t read the book Gone With the Wind yet—I’m going to read it this summer. But last summer I read Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. It’s so cute!” Personal style: “I’ll pretty much throw together anything. Like, I’ll buy a nice shirt, and then I’ll have, like, PacSun pants on and a little Urban Outfitters sweater. It’s kind of just mix and match, you know? This was my first couture shoot. I was freaking out.” —Lucy Madison

Nicola Peltz, 15 Years Old
Breakout Role: Peltz will star as a young adventurer in her first big film, M. Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender, due out in July. Favorite movies: “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape is one of my favorites. And Titanic . I love Titanic so much. You know, my agent discovered Leo [DiCaprio]—oh, my god, he’s so talented.” Family ties: “I have six brothers and a sister. My parents aren’t strict, but there are definitely rules. Like, we all have to go to college. My best friend and I have a plan that we’re going to live together and go to NYU.” If you liked it, then you shoulda put a ring on it: “I love Beyoncé. She is so amazing. I was at M. Night Shyamalan’s house, and we kept replaying this one move she did in the ‘Single Ladies’ dance, because it was so insane. I don’t even know how to describe it. If you replay it in slow motion, you’re like, ‘How does she do this? Are there wires attached?’”
