First Dibs: Calvin Klein Fall 2017 Look 24
Very much in tune with the American spirit of reinvention, one of the most iconic American brands, Calvin Klein, has hit the reset button. This morning, after much anticipation, Raf Simons debuted his inaugural fall collection for the label, which walked amidst an installed work by the Los Angeles-based artist Sterling Ruby. And fittingly, with Roy Orbison’s “In Dreams” and David Bowie’s “This is Not America” on the soundtrack, archetypal American classics—denim, workwear, and sportswear-swinging suits—were the starting point for the Belgian Dior and Jil Sander alum, remixed in skinny cuts, color blocking, enveloped in PVC, or festooned with feather fripperies. Out of the line-up, look 24—a texturally distressed, canary yellow coat wrapped in PVC and worn by Julia Nobis—caught our eye. Cinched with a sparkled belt and worn with minimal strappy heels, it’s a shrug-on look that commands attention. For Raf, the future looks bright.
