Art Basel Miami Beach Preview
RENDERING BY PAE WHITE. COURTESY CREATIVE TIME
It begins today! Well, it better, for those of us who came to Miami Beach early. Wednesday is the Art Basel Miami Beach preview, but the Interview team began showing up on Saturday, and we’re setting up at the Mondrian Hotel, where we will host events all week.
We’ve already checked in on Bruce High Quality Foudnation boys as they install a world of their media-synchretic sculptures in the W Ballroom, scoped out the Guillermo Kuitca retrospective at the Miami Art Museum and Dzine and Kent Hendrickson at the Bass Museum. Then we made our way over to the Creative Time “pavilion,” a video and performance stage with Pae White’s village of temporary structures—which will shortly host tarot card readings by Jacob Ireland.
Here’s some of our schedule, as far as we’ve planned:
Today: Relax
Sneak into the MOCA show, “The Reach of Realism” for a preview before the hoards descend
Tuesday: Private Collections open, begin brunching
Begining at 9 AM, you can visit the Rubell Family Colleciton, the Margulies Collection, the Craig Robbins Collection, and the Rosa and Carlos de la Cruz Collection. The latter have moved their collection out of their home and are opening a new space in the Design District. RSVP required for each.
The MOCA hosts its opening, and an after-party for “The Reach of Realism.” Opens 7 PM; VIPS welcome earlier.
Paul Kasmin hosts a dinner for Maria Bonetti. RSVP required.
