The Academy Awards' Best and Worst-Tressed

BEST: Anne Hathaway

For Anne Hathaway's red-carpet look—the first of many last night—her hair is loosely pulled off her face to show off her dashing brown eyes, show-stopping pearly whites, and Hollywood-glam red lips. This might actually be the best she looked all night.

BEST: Cate Blanchett

She is a movie-star goddess, and this look pulls out all of the godlike stops. Blanchett wears the perfect amount of makeup—while still keeping her skin flawless and clean—with an amazingly chic, short hairstyle that is ever-so-effortlessly tousled, yet sophisticated. Her skin is worth killing for—or at the very least, booking an appointment with the same facialist (she uses SK-II products!).

BEST: Halle Berry

Chanel is responsible for the makeup, and we're loving the gold tones that give her golden skin an extra glow. She's always a stunning woman, but last night, she looked extra haute! And nobody pulls off a boy cut like Halle.

WORST: Helena Bonham Carter

She's been our red-carpet running joke, so we felt our Oscar roundup wouldn't be complete without a dose of Helena madness. Sadly (and surprisingly), there is no hat. We were so looking forward to a fantastic, crazy hat contraption. But, alas, there is still a lovely rat's nest atop her pretty head. So many curls, such a little head.

BEST: Jennifer Lawrence

This newcomer sure knows how to make an entrance. She's smoking hot. Everything—from the buxom curls, to the eggplant-hued smoky eye, to the plump, nude lip—screams Showtime After Dark meets California surfer chick. Fierce.

WORST: Marisa Tomei

Is she at the Oscars or IHOP? Come on, Marisa, you can do so much better! It's as if she threw a deep side part in her hair and called it a day. Sadly, she gets an F for effort on the beauty front.

AMBIVALENT: Michelle Williams

Her makeup is very glam; she's still got that 1960's Twiggy thing going on. However, we feel the hair color may be a pinch too light for her complexion. Speaking of complexion, ever hear of a tanning salon, Michelle? We're simply asking for a little color... just enough that you're not see-through.

BEST: Mila Kunis

One word: sexy. Those pasty things on her decolletage are sexy-squared (yes, we are aware they're part of the dress—and a fab dress, at that). The hair is a tad too pasted onto her head—she could have laid off the hairspray a bit—but we like the whole Old Hollywood pin-curl vibe she's got going on. And that smoky eye is seductive. The trick: loading up on false lashes.

BEST: Natalie Portman

From our lips to God's ears—and back to Natalie's hairstylist. Amen: she didn't wear her hair in an updo! This sideswept look is both beautiful and sophisticated. She looks like a true movie star, with the loose curls, side part, and emphasis on sexy, false lashes. Gorgeous.

WORST: Nicole Kidman

We can practically see her face makeup caking up from 3,000 miles away. Makeup overload! And that hair—it's so... business seminar. The necklace is hot, at least.

WORST: Reese Witherspoon

Gotta love a girl in love. Don't gotta love a girl with a fake ponytail. Reese, this is Hollywood, not a Texan beauty pageant! And that bump—it's verging on Snooki territory.

BEST: Sandra Bullock

This is how you wear a chignon! Her hair is pulled back so effortlessly, it's fabulous. And the red lip is very sexy; minimal face and eye makeup keeps the focal point on the mouth (which is intentional, we promise). Single has never looked better.
