The was much cause for celebration at the Cinema Society's screening of Lawless last night. The film almost didn't make it; director John Hillcoat and writer Nick Cave had assembled a cast that reportedly included Ryan Gosling, Scarlett Johansson, and Michael Shannon back in 2010, when their funding fell through. An all-too-common Hollywood tragedy. Fortunately for us, the film eventually came to fruition and was nominated for the Palme D'Or at Cannes this year.

After the screening, guests celebrated the film's success with Grey Goose cocktails. Attendees included cast members stars Shia LaBoeuf, Jessica Chastain, and Dan DeHaan; as well as Harvey Weinstein, Ron Burkle, Melissa Leo, Isabelle Huppert, Chloë Sevigny, Patricia Clarkson, Patti Smith, Seth Meyers, Zosia Mamet, Alan Cumming, Adam Driver, Ezra Miller, Matthew Settle, Jack Huston & Shannan Click, Nora Zehetner, Jess Weixler, Tony Danza, Daryl Wein & Zoe Lister-Jones, Salman Rushdie, Hilary Rhoda, and Zac Posen.
