While most famous as a television presenter, Sal Masekela is also an actor, a musician, and a surfer. The son of legendary South African jazz musician Hugh Masekela, Sal records under the name Alekesam. At the Tribeca Film Festival earlier this year, Sal recently premiered his film, also entitled Alekesam, which traces the career of his father as both a musician and an Apartheid activist. Last Wednesday, Sal and friends gathered at Sonos Studio in LA for a special screening of the film, complete with a Q&A with Sal and DJ Chris Douridas, and a live performance by Alekesam.

Among those in attendance were Masekela's friends, the actors Michael Rapaport and Josh Duhamel, filmmaker Morgan Spurlock, and singers Cisco and Fergie.
