Seventh Annual UNICEF Snowflake Ball

Not everyone has left the city for the warmer climes and boozy times of Oh My!-ami—at least, not yet. Last night more than a few young things and celebrity altruists gathered at Cipriani's 42nd Street for the seventh annual UNICEF Snowflake Ball. Guests, among them Sarah Jessica Parker, Adrien Brody, Uma Thurman, Prabal Gurung, Angie Harmon, Dikembe Mutombo, Zoe Kravitz, and Mark Ruffalo, were treated to a full program: a children's choir harmonized, representatives from the organization spoke stirringly of their experiences, and Marcus Samuelsson aided Hugh Hildesley of Sotheby's in a live auction which raised tens of thousands for the organization, no small feat in this economy. After dinner, Natasha Bedingfield performed while happy audience members stole nibbles, bites, and heaping forkfuls of Samuelsson's divine chocolate mud-pie dessert (served with a dollop of cinnamon whipped cream). The atmosphere was warm and inviting: guests met, and in some cases reunited, over meal and cocktails, and friends and lovers took to the photobooth to strike a pose for posterity. It was also an evening of honors: UNICEF presented the Spirit of Compassion Award to Sharon Taylor of Prudential, and the Audrey Hepburn Humanitarian Award to Ken Hayami, Executive Director of the Japan Committee for UNICEF.
