Richard Phillips Opens at The Gagosian Gallery

Even the city's most stylish people can be convinced to take a break from New York Fashion Week if the stakes are high enough—and last night, at the opening of Richard Phillips' new solo show at the Gagosian Gallery, stakes were high. Cecilia Dean, Carine Roitfeld, Tara Subkoff, Erin Wasson, and many others took time out from their busy Fashion Week calendars to check out the show, which features large-scale portraits of Lindsay Lohan, Adriana Lima, and Sasha Grey, along with video pieces starring Grey and Lohan.

Though Grey was in attendance, Lohan was nowhere to be seen—she's filming (or notably not-filming) Scary Movie 5. But she was there in spirit; and Phillips' film, First Point, in which Lohan appears as a surfer, does the actress quite a service, re-infusing her with a certain mystique that one too many tell-all tabloid articles had all but erased.

According to pro surfer Kassia Meador, who was Lohan's stunt double in the film, the actress was certainly game on Phillips' set. " She was excited about the surfing part of it. She was like, ‘Oh, I want to learn!' So I pushed her out into a couple of waves, and she paddled out on her own and actually caught a wave and got up on a few," Meador said. "She was doing good, she seemed really enthusiastic about it, so hopefully she continues to pursue it."

After the opening, the crowds decamped to Meatpacking boîte No. 8, where the party started at 11 and ended—well, we'll admit it, we're not quite sure when it ended.

Phillips' show, though, ends October 20. —Alexandria Symonds
