"You're here to support my boy," Fred Armisen's mother exclaimed, ever the proud mama. And with reason: IFC's special screening of the first two episodes of their hit television show Portlandia drew quite the crowd. Jason Sudeikis, Lorne Michaels, Annie Clark (aka St. Vincent), Jeff Goldblum, Seth Meyers, Kristen Wiig, Andy Samberg, and the full SNL cast were among those laughing loud in the Natural History Museum's theater. After the screening, and a charming introduction from Fred Armisen, Carrie Brownstein, and John Krisel, the party moved upstairs into a spacious area which featured various set designs from the sketch-show's oeuvre. Funny(wo)men, television aficionados, and bands like the Fiery Furnaces were in attendance, drinking wine and nibbling deep-fried hors-d'ouevres. Unsurprisingly for such an event, spirits were high and conversation was bizarre. "These are our fried pickles," said one man quite soberly, addressing a young woman standing nearby. "If you take them, I will murder you."
