Nothing quite commands a crowd like Chanel, and last night's re-opening of the SoHo boutique was a packed house of marquee-ready celebrity names, industry veterans, and emerging faces. The stream of stars—like cover girl Blake Lively, Sarah Jessica Parker, Diane Kruger, Rachel Bilson, Liv Tyler and Clare Danes—was almost outshone by fashion's most-powerful. Grace Coddington chatted up Lynn Wyatt and Patrick Demarchelier posed with Petra Nemcova. But the most potent paparazzi fodder was Karl himself, who was flanked by the keepers (and builders) of the House Chanel. Architect Peter Marino kept a close watch on Karl as they introduced the store, which was a collaboration of several artists.
