Gagosian Gallery unveiled its newly expanded Beverly Hills location on Thursday night with an exhibition of photographs of equally behemoth proportion. The spectacle of the whole thing was of course befitting its inaugural exhibition, the high-priced, high-impact photography of Andreas Gursky. The German artist showed a new series called "Oceans," which was darker and more metaphysical—perhaps in response to a more somber market for photography.
