With infinite unsolicited mashups of dubious merit floating around cyberspace, deliberate collaborations are a welcome change. We are excited to hear that Canadian label Arts & Crafts—home to Broken Social Scene, Cold Specks, Chilly Gonzales, and Stars—will release 10 tracks with 10 combinations of their artists next week. Titled X, the album is in honor of Arts & Crafts 10th anniversary. One of our favorite tracks is a collaboration between the Canadian indie rock group Still Life Still, and the British indie rock group Zulu Winter: the indie rock melody “Era.” The genre is taken to a more serene dimension—casting a tranquil spell with a soft, steady beat over the lull ocean waves.

Lyrics like “Unravel the era ahead of us” and “You are my constant, you are my past” give “Era” an air of eternity, as though listeners could momentarily escape their own respective times and places. So, lie back, close your eyes, and enjoy our exclusive premiere.

X COMES OUT NEXT TUESDAY, MAY 28 VIA ARTS & CRAFTS.
