“I’m a simple island girl in a big city trying to make it,” says model Ysaunny Brito. Born in the Dominican Republic, Brito began her career in 2013 when she walked for Dior, Kenzo, Giambattista Valli, Alexander McQueen, and Louis Vuitton. She has since proved herself an industry staple, landing a coveted spot on Models.com‘s Top 50 rankings with editorials in Harper’s Bazaar and Teen Vogue as well as many FW17 runway appearances, including Balmain, Derek Lam, Michael Kors, Zimmermann, Creatures of the Wind, Prabal Gurung, Public School, Alexander Wang, and Jeremy Scott. Despite all of these successes, Brito’s outlook remains simple: “I admire lots of people but I like to be just the way I am,” she says.
