Jewelry Fit for a Titaness

Inspired by the Greek mythological Titaness Theia, the second jewelry collection produced by Venyx is named “Theiya” and composed of lightly hued gemstones encased in delicate settings. Each piece of fine jewelry evokes notions of stars, lightning, and the aurora borealis, as Titaness Theia is believed to be the mother of light–including the sun, dawn, and moon–as well as the one who gave precious metals and gems their intrinsic values.

Last week, Venyx’s designer Eugenie Niarchos debuted an exclusive installation of the Theiya collection at Dover Street Market in New York that found inspiration in the line’s original presentation during Paris couture week.

“I am fascinated by ancient mythology,” Niarchos explains. “Titaness Theia in particular has left a lasting impression. She is mysterious and strong, yet elegant at the same time.”

This idea of an elegant strength is reflected in the Theiya collection through pieces like a thin gold ring shaped into a zigzag reminiscent of an extended lightning bolt and an opaque, white crystal necklace set within a diamond-encrusted silver band. “In my designs I combine retro aesthetics with futuristic lines,” Niarchos continues. “Jewelry, to me, has to have a story and combine symbolism with meaning as well as design.”
