Continuing with their strong digital presence, Rag & Bone’s Spring/Summer 2015 campaign is fronted by a black-and-white short film that also marks Michael Pitt‘s directorial debut. While Pitt has starred in previous Rag & Bone campaigns, he has never before directed a film, and this season takes on the dual role of actor and director. In the film, Pitt stars alongside Astrid Berges-Frisbey and Stephen Graham, his c0-stars from I Origins and Boardwalk Empire respectively.

“It was creatively fulfilling and very challenging to play the character and direct the film,” Pitt says. “Having worked together [with Berges-Frisbey and Graham] in the past, we were able to get a certain level of performance that we wouldn’t normally be able to give.”

In the film’s trailer, Berges-Frisbey appears to be caught between two men (Pitt and Graham), both of whom take an interest in the downtown girl. Between cuts of her running throughout New York City, laughing in bed, and looking both determined and concerned, the trailer alludes to a storyline filled with deceit, provocation, and mysterious relationships. The costuming is, of course, Rag & Bone’s Spring/Summer 2015 collection.

“I met with Marcus [Wainwright] and David [Neville] and pitched them the idea of shooting a movie which would feature the Rag & Bone collection,” Pitt says of the film’s origins. “It was a creative endeavor where they gave me artistic freedom to make a film that is bold, contemporary, classic, [and] edgy, but elegant.”

Here, we offer an exclusive sneak peak of the film and two behind the scenes photos taken onset by Wainwright, one of Rag & Bone’s two founders. While filming the short, Glen Luchford also shot the print campaign images.

“The way the characters wear the clothes, the way they move in them definitely represents the Rag & Bone guy and girl, but not necessarily their actions or story lines,” Pitt continues. “The concept of making this project is what I feel most represents the Rag & Bone brand.”
