Quoted: Karl Lagerfeld's Dirty Laundry

"Practical" is not usually a word that comes to mind when one thinks of Karl Lagerfeld, and his comments in today's WWD, to whom he spoke about his role in a fall campaign for French mass marketer 3 Suisses, did nothing to change that. Though he claimed his positions at the decidedly luxurious Chanel and Fendi have inspired him to "turn the whole house of Lagerfeld into this kind of [mass] business," his observations about the black washing machine with which he posed on the back of the 3 Suisses catalog suggest that he might have a ways to go before understanding the mind of the average shopper: “[The washing machine] is so chic and pretty. I would like to have one–not to wash clothes but to put in my dressing room to hold my dirty laundry.”
