In the fashion world, the term “model-off-duty,” is shorthand for casual, informed cool-girls in the know looking chic in emerging downtown designers. We asked some of our favorite New York-based models to list the one designer dominating their off-the-runway wardrobe.

AGE: I just turned 22!

HOMETOWN: Burbank, California

WAS IT FASHIONABLE? It was whatever is comfortable and has colors.

DID YOU GROW UP READING MAGAZINES? Not really. I was more into videogames.

WERE YOU ALWAYS TALL? I was taller than most of my friends, but in the modeling industry I’m not the “model requirement.” I’ve been told all the time that I’m 173 cm, not 175 cm.

HOW WERE YOU DISCOVERED? I was ditching school in local mall and a scout from Elite gave me his card. I went with it to make money for clothes.

DREAM CAMPAIGN: Alexander McQueen with Steven Klein.

STYLE ICON: I like Daria Werbowy’s style when I see street photos of her, but I don’t really have a style icon.

PERSONAL STYLE: Easy and comfortable with some colors.

FIRST SHOOT: It was in the Valley. I was wearing a pillowcase by my pool taking portraits. From the corner of my eye during the shoot, I saw my dad’s face being like, “What the fuck…”

FAVORITE YOUNG LABEL: Atto. I saw something online about it and really loved their stuff. It’s very simple, but interesting too, especially with colors and shapes—colors and simplicity with a bit of something off. I’m not into patterns so much, or anything that cries for attention.

FAVORITE ITEM: I really love the silvery top from Resort, and this beautiful dress I wore for the shoot with wings that go down the side. And their color palette! I really love their collection…
