After starting off the spring season in mainly basics and solids, I have been feeling the need to refresh some of them with prints. The springseason was great for designers known for their prints, like Dries Van Noten, Thakoon, and Proenza Schouler, among others. The brighter and more ethnic, the better. Here are a few in easy-to-wear tops that can give a lift to even the most basic trouser. From left to right: The Tucker by Gaby Basora silk floral tank is always a good staple piece. If you like florals or ikat, you are sure to find them season after season ($176 at Tucker by Gaby Basora). Dries Van Noten's ikat print top and contrasting jacket–mixing and matching prints seems to be almost like wearing khaki and white (top, $452; jacket, $2334 at Barneys). Thakoon's mixed print tank top, which I personally bought, combines and intertwines different patterns on various strips ($865 at Shopbop).
