As Courtney Love demonstrated (left) at Givenchy's celebration for Marina Abramovic earlier this week, it is, in fact, possible to keep your hair under control in the summer, humidity be damned. And if Courtney can manage to maintain that enviable balance of sleekness and body in Manhattan's June heat, then you can too. (Whether or not the average civilian is capable of pulling off those highlights is less clear). I asked Fabrice Gili, creative director of the Frederic Fekkai SoHo Salon, for some expert tips on maintaining your mane this summer: "Play with the color contrast and brighten your hair during the summer so that it is more sun-kissed," says Fabrice. Product is also essential to keeping your head hydrated. "Don't blow dry hair with hot air, because the hot air will get rid of the hair's natural moisture and dehydrate the hair, which will create frizz as soon as you walk outside." He also suggests playing with texture and length: "Don't be afraid to add a wave or layers. Of course, all of this hair maintenance requires the right type of products. Of course, Fabrice swears by the Fekkai Marine Summer Hair Collection to help protect your hair from sun damage.
