Baroque N Roll

Perhaps catering to the cultivated party girl wasn’t high on Caravaggio and Co.’s agenda, but this season, designers embraced the baroque era’s opulent aesthetic to do just that. Swirling metallic leaf prints in bronze on Just Cavalli’s peplum jacket and in gold on Balmain’s sharp-shouldered mini, infused fall’s luxe black velvets and silks with gilded electricity. Accessories followed suit, with the intricate applique on Roger Vivier’s pump and the golden thread inlays on a cuff by Aldo. When paired with Dolce & Gabbana’s sequined chain-handle clutch (complete with an undercover iPod pouch) and oversize gold headphones, you’ll be rockin’ out to this rebel-meets-regal look all the way to spring.
