Paris Diary: Day Five

By Rebecca Voight

The room was so silent all one could hear was the models' footfalls as they walked down the long, reconstituted wood runway at the Beaux-Arts' Salle Melpomene to present Rei Kawakubo's two-dimensional, vacuum-packed and color drenched show for Comme des Garçons on Saturday afternoon in Paris.  ARTICLE PUBLISHED: 03/05/12

World Travelers

By Alison S. Cohn

Cartier, the 165-year-old French haute joaillerie house known for its lady panther icon, has always embodied a kind of feral adverturousness. The brand explores its wilder side with the animated and live-action hybrid short L’Odyssée de Cartier, a three-and-a-half-minute film that premieres this month on network television as an extended commercial spot.  ARTICLE PUBLISHED: 03/05/12

Metal Headz

Photography Mert & Marcus

A new modern armor rises. Like a gilded cage for the body, it captures the spirit of both old-school craftsmanship and the decadent aristo. Gold leaf, decorative embellishments, and restrictive metalwork celebrate the eroticism of a constricted silhouette that demands a sharp intake of breath  ARTICLE PUBLISHED: 03/05/12

Paris Diary: Day Four

By Rebecca Voight

It's hard to believe it's already been a decade that Alber Elbaz has been wowing the fashion world at Lanvin. Jeanne Lanvin's ladylike house was a sleeper before he took the reigns, but by the time Elbaz arrived, he'd already shown how great he was with short stints at Yves Saint Laurent and Guy Laroche.  ARTICLE PUBLISHED: 03/03/12

Delfina Delettrez Fendi Is on a Roman Not-Holiday

By Katharine Zarrella
Photography Spela Kasal

Rome can inspire you in many ways," says Delfina Delettrez Fendi of her hometown. Not surprisingly, the Eternal City, past and present, served as the muse for her fall/winter 2012 jewelry collection, the 10th she's created in her successful young career. Set in a salon in the Louvre (she has two pieces of jewelry in Le Musée des Arts Décoratifs) Thursday's presentation featured a family of life-sized harlequin-painted mannequins (some of which, Delettrez tells us, lived in her home quite some time) donning the designer's baubles.  ARTICLE PUBLISHED: 03/02/12
