"Vanessa has been a very, very close friend for a very long time," Alexander Wang said at the launch of Vanessa Traina's Maje capsule collection on Wednesday night. "Anytime a friend's there for you, you do the same back." Wang was not the only bold-faced-name fashion friend at the intimate Barney's party, with a dinner afterward at Le Caprice. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Joseph Altuzarra, and Proenza Schouler's Jack McCullough and Lazaro Hernandez also showed their support, while Harley Viera-Newton manned the DJ booth.

"I really wanted to make separates that any girl can wear," explained Traina of the fifteen piece collection. "These are really sleek, feminine, sexy pieces."

Traina, who wore a cutout Balenciaga top and Maje tuxedo jacket (her favorite piece from the collection), is well-known for her personal style. But was this her first time at designing?

"It was really a collaborative effort. It's not so far from what I do in my job of styling and collaborating with designers. It's the first time something has my name on it but it wasn't far out of my comfort zone."

Her equally chic sister, Victoria, weighed in her own thoughts on the collection. "I love how easy it is. It's really just throw-on pieces." Lucky for the rest of us, the separates are so well thought-out, they truly can add a quick update to any city girl's wardrobe.
