When the sun doesn't set until midnight, it's easy to lose track of time. During a Swedish Midsummer (the longest day of the year), evening is a prepetual state of twilight. That was just the case in Stockholm during Wednesday night's Midsummer party for the Swedish launch of Kanon Vodka. Sweden's own Lykke Li DJed into the late-night sunlight, getting the party started with crowd favorites like Ol' Dirty Bastards "Shimmy Shimmy Ya" and Peaches' "F**k the Pain Away." However, she noted, She a lot of her personal favorites do not lend themselves to DJ sets: "I've been listening to Tom Waits, who did a talk about On the Road. So him talking." And who is her DJ inspriation? Keith Richards, because, "He's a good guitar player and he dresses well." She takes the inspiration fairly literally when she's getting ready: "Everything, all the clothing I have is, like, 'man.' I dress as a man so I can be a woman." I also asked the singer about the tradition of Midsummer. Apparently, she's been missing out: "My family is really untraditional, so I haven't ever. Now that I'm older–because I lived abroad when I was a kid–now I do it with friends." (PHOTO BY FREDRIK SKOGSKVIST; COURTESY KANON VODKA)
