Ferrari Calls All Iron Men

All men are equal under Ferrari. During the never-ending twilight hours of midsummer,  A-listers, auto aficionados, and a even a few members of the Italian consulate gathered on Park Avenue last night to celebrate the opening of the Ferrari showroom and ogle  some of the finest sports cars ever created. The 4,300 square foot space (formerly co-inhabited by Maserati) now boasts a retail store where you can peruse Ferrari licensed products to your heart's content. "We're trying to bring the world of Ferrari to everyone," said retail director Massimiliano Ferrari. "For our products, we try and use the exact same materials that go into making the most beautiful cars in the world—balancing luxury with the functionality of the brand."

Those who are too humble and/or can't quite afford the blue 1959 Ferrari 250 California that was parked outside (Massimiliano remarked offhand that it was worth eleven million) can still pick up a pair of Tod's Ferrari driving loafers or, my personal favorite, a carbon fiber pencil holder (for the meager sum of four hundred dollars).  Unlike some red carpet events where PR magicians conjure up celebs to see and be seen, all the stars in attendance were lured in by the lowest common denominator—the cars. Zach Braff, while eyeing a remote control GT, was brought back to his childhood days when he was "Always the kid who had Ferrari posters on his wall," while Justin Theroux of American Psycho fame (sporting his macho handlebar mustache and biker vest; he knew Ferrari was a car company... right?) took his time while carefully inspecting the white coupe. The City's Olivia Palermo and Johannes Huebel were transfixed by the 1959 250, and Gossip Girl's resident responsible adult Matthew Settle (fresh off a run on Broadway as Chicago's Billy Flynn) turned Park Avenue into Bourbon St. as he sipped his mojito while taking in the new GT, which tops out at 209 miles an hour. Enraptured by all the toys, the guests trickled out with Ferarri goodie bags and one question on their minds: when can I test drive?
