AGE: 24 HOMETOWN: Zurich OCCUPATION: I am an artist. DESCRIBE YOUR PAINTINGS IN FIVE WORDS: Surface, color, view, light, and space. WHAT WERE YOU LIKE AS A CHILD: I think I was quite a normal child, and grew up to become quite a normal woman. I thought that I was something very special, because my parents told me so. I believed them when they said to me that I was the prettiest, smartest, best human being. I do still like myself a lot, but I think I am way more critical with myself. HOW DID YOU BEGIN PAINTING: I can remember that I always was drawing, all the time, wherever I was, already when I was four years old. When I got older, I was very fascinated by the grafitti writer scene all over the world. And I did like the stoner comic scene, as well. I kept on drawing, actually, until some years ago, because it kind of started to bore me. I needed a new challenge, brighter colors, more space and time to be able to tell the viewer what I wanted to tell him. Also, my interest changed a lot when I started art school. So, that's when I started painting. I also work with installation when the painting needs it. WHERE DO YOU LIVE: It's a huge, old wine bottling factory, with lots of space for studios. Many of my friends live there, as well. The nice thing is, that because of the many spare beds and rooms, we can always host friends. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SWISS ARTISTS AND AMERICANS? When I am in New York–although my English is quite good, because I spent part of my childhood in London–I feel like I don't quite get the humor or the jokes. I do get it in London, though. I think the kids in New York might be less scared of meanings–they are more playful and make jokes. They don't take themselves as seriously as Swiss artists do. Young Swiss art seems to me more pathetic and deep. I like both very much.
