Anna Della Russo, the Vogue Nippon Editor-at-large and self-described "fashion maniac," has charmed the world with her larger-than-life personal style, particularly in the realm of headwear. She's become a darling of bloggers as a kind of more-approachable Lady Gaga, and has even came out with her own fragrance. But with ADR, as her fans call her, it's always on to bigger and better things.
Last night celebrated her latest project. The likes of Byrdie Bell, Solange Knowles, and Harley Viera-Netwon all came to the Openhouse Gallery to toast to Dello Russo's new role as INC's Editor at Large for Macy's. ADR took her fashion expertise to the masses by editing and styling new winter looks. Guests enjoyed tunes spun by Sky Ferreira, who cited the infamous cherry hat as her favorite Dello Russo moment. Models in teased hair and attitude shades wore color-blocked dresses, cropped peacoats, and a cropped fur cubby.
"Fashion is an unconscious language," said Dello Russo in a documentary video screened on the gallery's wall, showcasing several of her insights. "Eggs is about born again, it's about living some new life and it's a new idea and a new surprise," she explained.
Her interest in fashion started young. In the video, she shares a story about her father taking her to buy a Fendi bag at age 12. She picked up an umbrella even though it wasn't raining, telling her father she needed it to complete the look. The next time you see a tween with an eye this discerning, take note. More behind the scenes footage from her fabulous life of fittings and events will be on a new digital space at Macys.com/INC, where visitors can also shop the look.
Dello Russo even took a turn in front of the camera for the collection, starring in the Inez and Vinoodh-shot campaign alongside Karolina Kurkova. You'll be able to see more of them in person at Macy's at this upcoming Fashion's Night Out.
