Taking the Show on the Road
10/14/2009 06:26 PM

Gap's spring global fashion show–the third in an international series–took place in Tokyo today. Cheif designer Patrick Robinson presided over the presentation, which has also been shown in New York and London. As he told Women's Wear Daily, "The show in New York was this very cool, classic, optimistic show. The next one was in London, which was a little more sophisticated. And then, coming and taking the same clothes to Japan, we're actually seeing a lot more layering going on." Inspired by both "tech-centric urban centers" and "nature," the collection did indeed include just about every layer imaginable–dresses, scarves, white denim, khaki cutoffs, bikinis, denim blazers, and platform espadrilles designed by Pierre Hardy. Though the collection will return to New York for the next show, Robinson also said he is perhaps more interested in bringing his vision to the brand's emerging markets, like Turkey, China, and Russia–so try to catch it while you can.
