Lock It Up for Fashion Week: The Bob
09/11/2009 08:24 AM
Ted Gibson is the mane man behind the celebrity tresses of Anne Hathaway, Debra Messing, and Angelina Jolie. For Spring/ Summer 2010 Fashion Week. Gibson predicts, "A lot of stronger hair statements." It's not so much a matter of celebrity inspiration, as it is politics, and economic. Like your ten-dollar lipstick, hair is a real factor in the beauty industry! Says Gibson, "Hair reflects fashion and fashion reflects hair. It's about strong women, not romance this year. We'll still see bobs, shorter hair and slicked back ‘do's." Hair looks harken back to a more dangerous era in new York, "inspired by the 80's, and the downtown derelict."
Ted's tip: "You don't have to be a slave to the trend but important to know it." Fake it with a side part on longer hair and pull it back into an upside down pony (a half bun with excess hairs emerging from the top)"
Sarah Howard is editor of Beauty Banter.
