Why not blend in with your furniture? Looking at Alexander McQueen's apocalypse-be-damned collection for Fall/Winter 2009—models in houndstooth cocoons, hubcaps for hats, and at least one feathered dress topped with a nest—you wouldn't think it would be easy for him to achieve. And yet! While we wait for four eclectically dresseded horsemen, McQueen has soldiered on from attire to decor.  This fall McQueen is releasing an extremely limited edition of  "Egg" chairs, each in the houndstooth fabric featured in his Fall Ready-To-Wear show. The egg chairs themselves date back to 2002 for McQueen.

While McQueen's Egg chair shares its name with Danish architect Arne Jacobsen's chair, the pieces are pretty literal opposites. Designed in 1957 for the Radisson SAS Hotel and inspired by Eero Saarinen's iconic Womb chair, Jacobsen's Egg chair envelopes the sitter and offers a sense of comfort. It would make a very nice nest for McQueen's troubled, hardboiled version.This furniture is not for the shy and retiring.  Take a cue from McQueen, don your hubcap helmet and go out with a bang.
