Yigal Azrouel
For my first show of the week, I attended Yigal Azrouel. The wind did not have my back and as soon as I got outside my coat was blown over my head. Then, in order not to knock over a granny, I fell hands-first to the side of Sixth Avenue in my favorite "Herman Munster" YSL wedge bootie. And when I arrived to the show, someone's butt was firmly planted in my seat, looking at me with crossed arms as if I were the one in the wrong place. I did what any lady would, thrust my asphalt-injured hands in her face and said, "You should see what happened to the other girl!" Alas, my seat was free and I had some peace.
The show had a very powerful beginning and never wavered—not a surprise, as Yigal describes this season's girl as "someone who knows what she wants and is not afraid to go after it... a smart rock n roll chick" The layered looks were my favorite; I love a look that needs to be taken in and peeled to understand all its parts. He also made a fantastic cropped bolero-style jacket with feathers along the bottom of it that I die for. But the real surprise was the jewelry collaboration Yigal did with designer Pamela Love: The pieces were tribal and edgy and really empowered the looks. Despite my rocky beginning, I left this show feeling inspired and wishing I had kicked
more butt!

Mark Ronson, Charlotte Ronson.
But foiled again, I missed Jason Wu: Traffic was killer.
Charlotte Ronson:
The music was show-tunes matinee after a few martinis; the clothes, retro geek chic. It was yet another reminder the Ronson's enviable gene pool. Charlotte's collection was fun, chic (in an awkward way), and wearable: The kind of looks you can wear as an ensemble or take apart and use to make your own magic. I sat next to my friend Melissa Bent, and we both marveled at the black satin jumpsuit with white sequenced stripes on the shoulders. We loved the dresses with cut-out shoulders, and the elbow slits on the long sleeve shirts were a particularly wonderful detail. The crowd was a mix of rockers, artist, celebs, socials, and misfits-the perfect New York cross-section! As usual the tight-knit Ronson clan was in attendance. And after the show? The Ronsons hit Bar Pitti for a late lunch. Mmmmmm... I hope someone had the truffle pasta, because that's my
favorite. I, on the hand, was running on empty and ate a Luna bar to keep my angry stomach quiet.

Shipley and Halmos: I have to admit I never even heard of this brand but I got dragged over by Derek Blasberg and Genevieve Jones because her boyfriend was walking in the show. The looks were pretty cool, but I really loved the presentation. It was an industrial concrete loft with clean lines and pillars everywhere, all in gray and white. The models walked a continuous zig-zag around the room. I got some amazing pictures that I'm going to frame and put up in my apartment...so HA!
