Fashion Week Diary: A Night in Polaroids
09/15/2009 04:17 PM
When the invite is tied to candy colored balloons, you know the party is going to be good. At Sunday night's Soho House Mulberry dinner, it was all giant lollipops, simple food, great friends, and, of course, a wall of those balloons. But, the real show-stoppers were the Fujifilm Instax Mini Polaroid cameras adorning each table and transforming everyone into instant paparazzi. I'm obsessed! So obsessed, in fact, that I slipped it into my new, navy Mulberry overnighter (thanks KCD), and took it a block away to Club Sandwich, where I went all Andy Warhol on the party guests.

Fashion Week Capture: Mulberry's Invitation
09/12/2009 09:28 AM
If you don't have enough Mulberry luggage to clutch onto, or are just filled with Fashion Week anxiety, the luxury brand has done you (read: me) a favor with their invitation. It's one part uplifting balloon arrangement; another part stress ball. Squeeze in some time for it! (PHOTO BY MIGUEL ENAMORADO)

Alexander Skarsgard Kills in Sweatpants
08/11/2009 04:04 PM
Out of the Swedish mist came Alexander Skarsgard, the evil, increasingly nuanced vampire leader Eric Northman of True Blood. He sucks blood; he stars in Lady Gaga's video for "Paparazzi" as an abusive, ill-fated boyfriend; he gets recognized by fans on the street over the course of our interview.
MIGUEL ENAMORADO: Hi Alex, how are you?
ALEXANDER SKARSGÅRD: Hey Miguel, I'm good, how are you doing?
REBECCA SINN: Where are you?
SKARSGÅRD: I'm in Veras, California. Are you guys in New York?
ENAMORADO: We're in the office while you're probably outside on a beautiful day.
SKARSGÅRD: It's a beautiful day. I'm standing underneath a palm tree.
ENAMORADO: Have you been to Sweden lately?
SKARSGÅRD: I hadn't been there in eight months, but I recently went for two weeks to visit my family, and I just got back to California a week ago.
ENAMORADO: So are you originally from Stockholm?
SKARSGÅRD: I grew up in downtown Stockholm.
ENAMORADO: I love Sweden. I've been there a couple times and it's one of my favorite cities in the world. I have a lot of Swedish friends, and it's one of those places where you meet one and you meet everyone, you know? You only need one Swedish friend.
SKARSGÅRD: I like it a lot.
ENAMORADO: What is your favorite thing to do in Sweden?

This one is for all the boys who like their their toys—Barbies, that is! And we know that isn't just aspiring fashion editors. Paris boutique Colette introduces a new collaboration with Barbie on the occasion of the grande dame's 50th birthday, Barbie foosball. Far chicer than yoga or pilates is Barbie's fitness activity of choice, kicking the ball around with her girlfriends, not a care in the world. Designed by Chloé Ruchon and manufactured by Bonzini (the "Cristal" of foosball tables), the table will be on display in the store's window and will go on sale this week.
Colette is located at 213 rue Saint-Honoré, Paris.

There were a lot of ideas proposed by designers this season. We've organized them for you, alphabetically: Here is an alphabetical CliffsNotes of what we learned on the runways in Milan:
A Aquascutum: The brand never looked so good as designer Graeme Fidler looked to its past, both in the archives and recent seasons for a collection with strong influences of swinging London in the early 60's.
B Bowl cuts: Jil Sander's new hair statement (by hairstylist Paul Hanlon) and a nod to its inspiration, Franco-Japanese artist Tsugoharu Foujita. (LEFT: IMAGE COURTESY OF JIL SANDER)
C Camping: DSquared pitched a tent and went CAMP-ing.
D DIY: Alexander McQueen's literally hand-painted clothes, and painterly drips and strokes at Moschino and Trussardi, made you want to discover the artist inside.
E Ernest Hemingway: though nowhere a cited influence, the intelligent, rumpled, and relaxed with a fisherman vibe of the Missoni show reminded me of the writer during his days in Key West.
