Elad Lassry's portraiture faces you dead-on. It's perfect in lighting and composition; it looks a little retro. We spoke to the Los Angeles-based artist on the occasion of his first solo show at David Kordansky Gallery about why his images aren't just photos, and why cliché imagery isn't just kitsch.
